Teachers' Pension Plan Trustee Inc.
Teachers’ Pension Plan Trustee Inc. (TPPTI) is the trustee of Nova Scotia Teachers’ Pension Plan (TPP). TPPTI was established in 2006 under a joint trust agreement between the NSTU and the Province of Nova Scotia. TPPTI has the fiduciary responsibility for the TPP, is responsible for its operations and manages its investment assets.
TPPTI is comprised of nine directors. Four directors are appointed by the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Union (NSTU) and four directors are appointed by Nova Scotia’s Minister of Finance and Treasury Board. The independent Chair of the TPPTI is mutually appointed by the NSTU and the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board. TPPTI directors have extensive experience in a wide range of disciplines required to oversee the Plan. They are drawn from the fields of pension plan governance, pension benefits, labour relations, investment management, and accounting. The TPPTI Board meets five to six times a year.
